Cairo, Egypt – CCCPA, in cooperation with the Egyptian Institute for Diplomatic Studies, organized a training course for junior Egyptian diplomats on “Facing the Media”, from 18-20 June 2019. The training aimed to enhance the skills of 13 junior Egyptian diplomats on effectively facing the media when conducting TV interviews and press conferences. It is specifically designed to introduce diplomats to the methods and strategies of interaction with the media, including how the media operates, verbal responses and delivering their messages succinctly. Cairo, Egypt – CCCPA hosted the signing ceremony of a cooperation framework with the United Nations Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions (OROLSI) on 18 June 2019. The cooperation framework will enhance CCCPA-OROLSI cooperation in the areas of preventing radicalization and extremism leading to terrorism (PRELT) and disarmament, demobilization and reintegration (DDR). Montreal, Canada – CCCPA participated in the annual meeting of the Challenges Forum from 9-12 June 2019. The meeting was organized by the Government of Canada and the International Secretariat of the Challenges Forum, under the theme “Action for Peacekeeping: Improving on Political Strategy, Peacebuilding, Mission Management and Transitioning to Enduring Peace”.  The meeting built on the recommendations of the previous annual meeting held in Stockholm, and focused on the implementation of the UN Secretary-General’s ‘Action for Peacekeeping’ (A4P) initiative. Cairo, Egypt - Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially announced the country’s development of its first National Action Plan (NAP) on the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security agenda. The announcement followed Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry’s meeting with Dr. Maya Morsi, President of the National Council for Women (NCW), on 21 May 2019, where they agreed on assigning CCCPA with the responsibility of drafting the plan with NCW, in cooperation with relevant State institutions. Cairo, Egypt - In continuation of Egypt’s strong commitment to the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda, the country’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York announced the decision of the Government of Egypt to develop the country’s first national action plan (NAP) on the implementation of UNSCR 1325 and subsequent resolutions. Belgrade, Serbia - CCCPA and the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Serbia participated in the 7th Annual Meeting of the European Association of Peace Operations Training Centers (EAPTC), organized by the Conflux Center for Intercultural Dialogue and Mediation, from 16-18 April 2019.   The meeting offered a platform to discuss aligning peacekeeping training to the new and emerging operational needs, in light of the ongoing efforts to reform peacekeeping. Cairo, Egypt - CCCPA held a pre-deployment training (PDT) for Egyptian military peacekeepers who will be joining the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA). 131 military peacekeepers attended the training from 7-16 April 2019. To date, Egypt’s total contribution to MINUSCA is 1,169 peacekeepers.   The training starts with a conflict analysis of the situation in the Central African Republic and MINUSCA’s mandate. The high-profile Cairo workshop on the 'Regional Aspects of Peacebuilding' successfully concluded with the outcome report being circulated at the UN Security Council in December 2014. This booklet has been developed as a contribution to international efforts aimed at preventing sexual exploitation & abuse in peacekeeping operations. It is designed to inform and remind military contingent personnel (working at the tactical level) of the standards of behavior that are expected of them during the course of their deployment.
 
Cairo Roadmap for Enhancing Peacekeeping Performance
This Roadmap aims to advance the ongoing reform efforts by presenting concrete and actionable recommendations for the implementation of the Action for Peace. The recommendations take into consideration the primary objective of the Secretary-General’s initiative (and the Declaration of Shared Commitments): enhancing the performance and, consequently, the effectiveness of UN peacekeeping.
