CCCPA participated in the High-Level Global Forum on Youth, Peace and Security (YPS), “The Arab Vision: Youth, Peace and Security on a Global Stage,” hosted by Jordan in cooperation with the League of Arab States, on 28-29 August 2024, in Amman. The Forum witnessed the launch of the Arab Strategy on YPS, marking a significant milestone in advancing meaningful youth engagement on peace and security in the Arab region. The Centre was represented by Ahmed Sameh, Senior Policy Coordinator and Yara Ouda, Program Officer on Youth, Peace and Security.
CCCPA attended the High-Level Ministerial roundtable, which discussed the priorities of Arab member States for advancing the YPS Plan of Action. Additionally, CCCPA took part in the Forum’s intergenerational dialogue, and rich discussions on the synergies between the YPS agenda, and the climate action agenda, as well as on enhancing mechanisms for funding YPS activities in the region.
Building on the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the League of Arab States in 2023, CCCPA looks forward to taking an active part in the implementation of the Arab Strategy on YPS in particular through its Youth, Peace and Security program which aims to build capacities of youth and relevant stakeholders on peace, security and development in the region, while scaling up partnerships and efforts towards the the Strategy’s successful implementation. In this regard, the Centre discussed potential opportunities for collaboration with the Secretariat of the League of Arab States and a range of partners.
