CCCPA Conducts 5th Gender, Peace and Security Training Course

Cairo, Egypt - On 15 February 2015, CCCPA Deputy Director Counselor Hatem Elatawy inaugurated the fifth training on Gender, Peace and Security with Ms. Meghan Riley and Mr. Jari Mustonen [from Crisis Management Center (CMC) Finland].
24 peacekeepers and actors in the peacebuilding process in North Africa attended the training; coming from Libya, Tunisia, Morocco and Egypt.
The course covered material on African challenges in peace and security, conflict analysis and tools for mainstreaming gender, legal framework of peacekeeping operations, code of conduct in addition to sexual exploitation and abuse.
The training was part of an ongoing commitment to enhance mainstreaming gender in peacekeeping and peacebuilding in North Africa under the project entitled "Capacity Building Project on Mainstreaming Gender and UNSCR 1325 in North African Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding Architecture". The project is being implemented by CMC Finland and CCCPA.
