Sarajevo, Bosnia - CCCPA has unanimously been chosen as the next secretariat of the International Association for Peacekeeping Training Centers (IAPTC), effective as of 1 January 2017. The IAPTC Executive Committee announced its decision during the last meeting held in Sarajevo from 16-19 May 2016.
CCCPA will be the third center to assume the role of IAPTC Secretariat since the Association’s establishment in 1995, following the Pearson Center (Canada) and the Center for United Nations Peacekeeping of India (CUNPK). This is the first time that a center from Africa or the Arab World has been selected for this role.
The IAPTC Secretariat is selected from amongst the most reputable peacekeeping centers from major Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs), and is mandated to work with the rotating Presidency of the Association on the agenda, topics and speakers of the Executive Committee Meetings and the Annual General Meetings. The Secretariat is also mandated to work on conceptual matters.
Last October the IAPTC AGM also unanimously approved CCCPA’s bid to host the 23rd Annual Conference of the Association in Cairo in 2017. Some 200 participants, from 50 countries, supported Egypt’s offer during the 21st Annual Conference that was held in Brasilia, Brazil from 28 September - 2 October 2015. Accordingly, CCCPA has joined the IAPTC Executive Committee for four consecutive years.
