Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt - CCCPA participated in the 'Second Ministerial Meeting and Third Senior Officials Meeting of the African Union - Horn of Africa Initiative on Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants', held in Sharm El-Sheikh from 2-4 June 2016. The meeting came in the context of assessing country efforts to implement the recommendations of the Valetta Summit held in November 2015, and to prepare the groundwork for the Valetta Summit mid-term review consultative meeting.
During the Sharm El-Sheikh meetings, CCCPA presented its work in the field of building capacities on combating human trafficking and smuggling of migrants, including a review of the 10 training courses it offered to about 200 mid-rank officials from 10 African countries.
The courses offered by CCCPA in this field (which builds on the paradigm of south-south cooperation and offering African solutions for African problems) provide participants with a review of the international and regional legal frameworks, as well as the skills needed, for dealing with the issue. They also present Egypt's experience in developing the laws and the national action plans related to the subject as a model.
