CCCPA conducted a pre-deployment training (PDT) course for Egyptian peacekeeping forces who will be joining the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). The training took place from 08-15 January 2017.
The curriculum is based on UN Peacekeeping PDT Standards and covers topics such as UN peacekeeping operation principles; protection of civilians, the nature of conflict in the respective country; international humanitarian law and human rights; the role of gender and women in peacekeeping, and rules of engagement.
The training was held in close collaboration between CCCPA and the Egyptian Ministry of Defense in accordance with General Assembly resolution A/RES/49/37. The training comes as part of the current CCCPA project “Consolidating Peace, Security and Stability in Africa - 2016”, financed by the Government of Japan, in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
