Cairo, Egypt – The important role of women as positive agents of peace has been emphasized by the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 (2000), and the eight subsequent resolutions that together form the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda. In the lead up to the 20th anniversary of the landmark UNSCR 1325, CCCPA is organizing a training course from 3-6 November 2019, to enhance Arab women’s meaningful participation in peace processes. The training aims to enhance the negotiation and mediation capacities of 19 senior and mid-career Arab women diplomats (from 10 Arab countries), and equip them with necessary knowledge, tools and skills to meaningfully contribute to conflict resolution and prevention efforts in the region.
Out of its firm belief in the importance of women’s effective and substantial inclusion in peacemaking and peacebuilding for sustainable peace, CCCPA has been actively involved in efforts to enhance the implementation of the WPS agenda in the Arab region and Africa through research, convening and capacity building in conflict prevention and resolution, peacekeeping and peacebuilding.
This training is organized in partnership with the Government of Sweden and the United Nations Development Programme under the ongoing project, “Enhancing Women’s Participation in Conflict Prevention and Resolution in the Arab World”.
